Hello and welcome! I am Kristy Myers, wedding planner and proud owner of Margaret Claire’s Wedding’s & Events, a wedding and event planning service in Knoxville, Tennessee. I received my title of Certified Wedding Specialist through Wedding’s Beautiful Worldwide.
Why do I love being a Wedding Planner?
Well I guess you could say I am a hopeless romantic, always have been. Thirty years ago, I met a handsome young man who truly swept me right off my feet. It was my first day of high school and after one wink from him in study hall I was under his spell. In 1992 I was so excited when he asked me to be his wife that I nearly forgot to say yes. Before I could even get home that night my head was already spinning with the idea of my fairy tale beginning with a beautiful long white gown, in a church filled with white roses, soft candlelight, and all of my dearest friends and family there to see me start my happily ever after with the man of my dreams! I feel so blessed to have the privilege of watching each of my sweet Margaret Claire Brides stand and gaze at the love of her life just as I did 22 years ago! I love getting to not only plan their fairy tale but getting to know each of my couples and their families on a personal level that often develops into life long friendships!
Who is Margaret Claire?
I get that question a lot. Let me tell you about two very classy southern belle ladies, Miss Margaret Dyer and Miss Clara Wilson. These ladies were sweet tea and pie making ladies who wore white gloves to church every Sunday. These women were born in the 20’s and both were married in the 1940’s as wartime brides of WWII. In those days most young men were drafted to take part in the war effort. Because of this, many young couples were wed in quick ceremonies at courthouses before the young grooms deployed. This left many new brides dreaming of what it would have been like to have had a “real church wedding”. Years later when these women became grandmothers they found themselves standing in a bride room with a lovely young bride. They presented the bride with a lovely box adorning a white bow on top, with a tag attached that read… “Today as you marry the love of your life, please wear these pearls and the matching earrings and carry us with you down the aisle we never walked.”
Those two lovely ladies, Margaret and Clara I am proud to say were my precious grandmothers. I grew up learning from them many valuable lessons. Such as how to be a lady, how to respect and love with all of my heart, how to bake fine southern cuisine, and best of all how to throw one heck of a party! So it seemed only natural when starting my own Wedding planning business to name it after these two wonderful women who had such an influence on my life. Hence Margaret Claire’s Weddings & Events was born!
